As
far back as I can remember, I have always enjoyed drawing and painting. It
was something I could not put down, sort of like an addiction. I sometimes
jokingly refer to my gift as a compulsive disorder. And that is the distinction
I draw when I think about what is a true artist. We artists do it not for
the money, not for the pats on the back, but because we have
to. My life took twists and turns like most lives do. I spent time as
a U.S. Marine and as a single parent. Through it all, I have been
driven to draw and paint. My influences coming from early envy of
comic book artists such as John Bryn and Jack Kirby, as well as fine
artists such as Ernie
Barnes, Boris Vallejo and Norman Rockwell. Not having the privilege
to learn in a distinguished art academy, I set out to hone and
perfect my skills on my own. I enhanced my skill by picking up various books on painting, taking design classes at Milwaukee Area Technical College, and through many years doing portraits and caricatures at local festivals and block parties. I love painting and I always look forward to my next piece. Below are pictures of me and my family the two boys are Patrick in the cap and gown Paul JR. to the left at the bottom. My lady Kathleen and let's not forget MS Clarke the cat.
